Cardiovascular and metabolic diseases
Novartis is a global leader in the treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Our broad portfolio of products provides some of the best tools to treat and protect patients from serious cardiovascular and metabolic conditions. We have numerous products for the treatment of high blood pressure and other cardiovascular conditions, as well as a cholesterol-lowering agent.
Neuroscience
For more than 50 years, Novartis has made significant advances in neuroscience pioneering early breakthrough treatments for disorders of the central nervous system including:
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Epilepsy
- Alzheimer's disease
- Parkinson's disease
- Depression
- Schizophrenia
Metabolic bone disease
Our diverse therapeutic portfolio also includes medication for the treatment of:

Transplantation
Novartis pioneered medicines to assist transplantation with the discovery of an immunosuppressant compound more than 30 years ago. We currently have the broadest portfolio of immunosuppressants on the market, used to prevent organ rejection following a kidney, liver or heart transplant.
Ophthalmics
Novartis is also a leader in the treatment of ophthalmic conditions, most importantly “wet” age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of blindness in people over age 50.

Portfolio Update
Our current product portfolio includes more than 45 key marketed products, many of which are leaders in their respective therapeutic areas. The product development pipeline involves about 140 projects in various stages of clinical development – including potential new products as well as potential new indications or formulations for existing products.
